If you’ve received a threatening phone call from someone who claims to work for the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), you are not alone. Since 2014, there were 56,000 complaints and over $10 Million lost through CRA scams. They could insist that they will require your personal information to release your refund or in some cases they might threaten you with an arrest or law suit for not paying your taxes.
If you have received these types of phone calls, text messages or emails, please do not provide your personal information such as your SIN number, credit card number, bank account number or your address.
