As part of a larger series of financial measures to assist Canadians through the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has made some changes in tax deadlines for individuals, trusts & corporations.
Tax Filing Deadline for Individuals
- Tax filing deadline for individual has been extended from April 30, 2020 to June 1, 2020.
- Any income tax amount payable must be paid to CRA by September 1, 2020.
- If you are self-employed or have a spouse or common-law partner who is self-employed, the tax filing deadline remains the same at June 15, 2020 , but any tax owing must be paid by September 1, 2020.
No Change In Tax Filing Deadlines for Corporations
- Corporate tax payments or tax installment that become due on or after March 18, 2020 is now due by September 1, 2020.
Tax Filing Deadlines for Trusts:
- The filing due date for Trusts with tax year end of Dec 31, 2019 has been extended from March 31, 2020 to May 1, 2020.
